July 27th - July 30th |Toftrees Resort & Conference Center State College, PA |
Founded in 2003, The Leadership Institute for Faculty Women has trained over 200 women faculty in leadership and gender equity in the academy through a series of presentations and interactive, and experiential, and workshops. The Institute is an intensive, three-day program designed to empower faculty women through multicultural leadership and collective strength. Participants engage in and lead lectures, workshops, and discussion groups to develop skills, build connections, and establish networks within the cohort. The Institute fosters a multi-layered, contemporary understanding of leadership that acknowledges the complexities of gender and cultural dynamics, equipping participants to influence decisions and create meaningful change within their institutions.
Participant Outcomes:
Faculty women who participate in the Leadership Institute will be able to:
• Develop a complex, contemporary, multi-layered and multicultural understanding of leadership
• Utilize strategies to influence decisions and create change
• Communicate effectively at the interpersonal, committee, and institutional levels to promote collaboration and cooperation as well as respond to adversity and resolve conflict
• Create networks among diverse constituencies at the university and the System level
• Advance professionally through promotion and/or leadership opportunities at the department, university, and System level.
