About The Women’s Consortium

Who we are

Welcome to The Women’s Consortium – where empowerment meets education in the heart of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Established in 1980, The Women’s Consortium stands as a beacon of solidarity, uniting the diverse talents and perspectives of faculty, staff, students, and administrators across the fourteen campuses of the state system. More than just a professional network, we are a dynamic force dedicated to addressing issues that resonate within the realm of women in higher education, local campuses, and communities.

At the Consortium, inclusivity is our guiding principle. We proudly extend membership to individuals of all genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, ages, and abilities. We believe in the strength that arises from embracing diversity and fostering an environment where everyone’s voice is not only heard but celebrated.

As a member, you gain exclusive access to the rich tapestry of our local campus consortium chapters, each a vibrant community within itself. Moreover, your membership opens doors to a myriad of state consortium events, activities, and programs designed to enrich your professional and personal journey.

Join us in creating a future where equality, diversity, and collaboration flourish. The Women’s Consortium – where your story becomes part of a powerful narrative shaping the landscape of higher education. Elevate your experience, elevate your impact.

What We Do

The PASSHE Women’s Consortium (the consortium) is the only organization within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education that acts on behalf of all women–faculty, staff, students, and administrators. The Consortium initiatives include an annual conference and three summer leadership institutes for faculty, staff, and undergraduate women. The leadership institutes bring representatives from all fourteen campuses together with facilitators and leadership professionals and provide a structured forum to address leadership opportunities and skills for women across the state system.

The annual conference, held by rotation at one of the ten campuses of the state system, addresses women’s and gender issues in their scholarly, creative, and activist dimensions. In addition to keynotes and plenaries by noted speakers and panels structured around the conference theme, the conference also brings together alumnae from the leadership institutes, women’s and gender studies faculty and students, LGBTQ studies faculty, staff, and students, and campus women’s center professionals.
